In piano playing these techniques are simply fundamental: they allow for shifts, i.e. moving up and down the keyboard, without once needing to lift your hands from the keys. When playing up the keyboard, the thumb is passed under the other fingers; playing downwards, the other fingers cross over the thumb. Using simple motifs, you will practice the thumb pass-under after having played with your index and middle finger. This course offers you a sample video demonstrating in full detail the lesson’s hand and finger movements, three technical exercises with their corresponding recordings, as well as seven licks you can play along to backing tracks.
